In December 2007, Evan and I got to travel to Washington DC with Taylor and the 6th grade students of Lincoln County. Pictured here is Taylor, Madi, and Kaylee (the Three Musketeers) lying on the Lincoln Memorial top step where Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous speech. Our fund-raising efforts paid off. The kids only paid $100 for their trip. While there, we visited all the memorials, the Capitol Building, Mount Vernon, the US Senate in session, Smithsonian, Air & Space Museum, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the highlight of our trip--Arlington Cemetery --which was our main purpose for going. We decorated a section of the cemetery with donated wreaths. It was an amazing spiritual experience for all. It was one of the best trips we've ever been on; we'd love to return when we can spend more time visiting historical sites and take the whole family! I am working on a slideshow because there are some great pictures of the trip. . . but I haven't quite figured it out yet. Stay tuned!
